Our Legacy & History
The Word Warehouse – formerly Christ Centered Church, Inc. – was established in September 1987 as an independent, non-denominational ministry. The first worship service was held on Sunday, September 20, 1987, at the MGN Regency Hotel on Highway 70 West, now the Goldsboro Best Western Hotel. After joining the worship that first Sunday, Mother Eleva Monroe offered the use of her mobile home on National Drive in the Central Heights community. We worshiped there until February 1988, then moved to 606 A Street. We remained at that location for many years, even purchasing the property in October 1992. Today, the A Street location serves as our administrative/multipurpose facility. In July 1993, we purchased 1303 Florida Street to serve as our new Worship Center. Currently, we own seven rental properties, twenty acres of land, and the former Word Faith Center.
Later, Yahweh spoke to Apostle Dennis Jacobs concerning another dimension of apostolic pioneering on a new front using a new name. Thus, The Word Warehouse was born and made official in September 2010. Yahweh gave the vision for the church, and we only followed His lead. Since our inception, many ministries have been added to the church as we continue to grow and experience Yahweh. He places the vision in a vessel, but it is the responsibility of the vessel to bring it forth. “This is Yahweh’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.”
One of the many signs of our continual spiritual growth is that we no longer call ourselves an independent, non-denominational ministry – for we are not independent of the body of Christ, nor have we ever been denominational. We are simply a New Testament apostolic and prophetic church striving to uphold the teachings of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah).
About Our Founder
Apostle Dennis R. Jacobs was a man of much prayer, and fasting, and loved the truth. He had an unrelenting determination to help people come to know God and the truth of God’s Word. He was uncompromising yet compassionate. Apostle Jacobs was truly a man that lived what he preached.
He was born November 23, 1952, to the late Hugh Loron & Lila Barnes Jacobs. He accepted Christ on November 14, 1982, and was ordained to preach the Gospel in September 1985. In September 1987, he and his wife, Ravonda founded Christ-Centered Church. In November 1996, he accepted the call and was confirmed to the office of Apostle.
At the age of fourteen, he began to play piano and soon was playing for churches throughout the city and county. In addition to the gifts to teach, preach, and rightly divide the Word, he also was anointed as a Praise and Worship Leader and loved ushering people into the presence of Yeshua.
Apostle Jacobs was a member of the Board of Directors of Horizon Communications – WHFL-TV channel 43 located in Goldsboro, NC beginning in October 1990. He served as President of the Board from 2002-2005.
In 2005 Apostle Jacobs established Dray Jac Publishing Company and three books authored by him were published: The Three Falls of Satan, Protecting Your Leader through Prayer, and The Seventh World Empire.
Apostle Dennis & Ravonda met in August 1969 and married in October 1977. They had five children: Contonna, DJ II, Ravonda (Pinky), Sheena, and Brittany. On January 19, 2020, Ravonda (Pinky) transitioned to be with the Lord and her Dad.
